Overnight Backpack Trip: Five Winds Area

Closed for registration.  Event is now full.

We will hike to Lone Lake and set up camp on Saturday.  Optional hike before supper.  Overnight and backpack out, leaving our heavy backpacks at cars.  We will then continue to hike to the dam for lunch (3 km).

Experience with shoulder season backpacking is recommended.  Food is independent.

The trip will be cancelled if rain is forecasted for the entire weekend.

Backpack portion:  5 km to camp /return, plus additional hiking on both days
Elevation Level:  400 metres of ascent and descent (a few small hills)
Difficulty Rating:  Easy to Moderate

Pets:  Yes, with conditions
Minors:  Yes, with conditions

Minimum Experience:  Previous shoulder season experience preferred, or practise in your backyard that same week to test gear.  Must be able to hike at 3.5 km/hr and carry a 30 pound pack gear.  Should include a sleeping bag rated to 10 degrees under the expected temperature and winter-rated sleeping pad

Meet Up Location for Car Pooling:  Major Mac & 400 Sat. 8:45 a.m.; Depart 9:00 a.m. sharp.
Car Pooling Costs:  Approx. $20/person
